Course Description:
Principles and Elements of Floral Design is a course designed to give students a deeper understanding of the artistic floral design techniques and the floral design industry. Students are going to learn the fundamentals of floral arranging, from the basic tools you will need, to how to prepare for a big event and be able to pull it off with confidence.

10:00 – 17:00 with 30 mins break

Jan 8th Theory and Flower Prep Class:
• Personal and occupational safety
• Plant/Flower identification
• Cut flower garden recommendation for Victoria climate
• Introduction of tools and supplies
• Flower process and treatment technique
• Color theory
• Design theory
• Business operation
• Hands-on flower prep
Jan 9th Hand-tie Bouquets and Arrangements:
• Different style Hand-tie bouquets (Spiral, Cascade, Horizontal)
• Practical wrapping technique
• Boutonnieres and corsages
• Arrangement (Traditional with Oasis, Garden Style with Chicken Wire, Ikebana with pin frog or branch structure)
Jan 10th Holiday Design and Event Installation
• Wreath, Unconventional centerpieces
• Large arrangement technique
• Installation at Market Garden as final project
